In virtual shooting scenes, if the parameters of the LED display screen as the background do not match, problems such as screen tearing and reflection goofs often occur. Professional parameter configuration is the core of eliminating goofs. The following is a list of LED parameters and setting logic for virtual shooting.

Pixel pitch and resolution: need to be accurately matched according to the shooting distance. When the camera is 3-5 meters away from the screen, P1.2-P1.5 micro-pitch modules are recommended, with a pixel density of more than 40,000 dots/㎡, which can avoid the appearance of pixel lattices in close-up shots. The resolution supports at least 4K (3840×2160), and high-end movie-level scenes require 8K (7680×4320) to ensure that the pixel accuracy of the virtual scene is consistent with that of the real shot.

Refresh rate and shutter synchronization: The camera shutter speed is usually set to 1/50-1/125 seconds, the LED screen refresh rate must be ≥240Hz, and progressive scanning is supported. The frame synchronization between the screen and the camera is achieved through the DMX protocol or GPIO interface, so that the LED scan line is fully displayed when the shutter is opened, eliminating the rolling black bar. In the shooting of a web drama, the 240Hz refresh rate is combined with a 1/60 second shutter, and the dynamic tracking screen has no scan line interference.

Brightness and dynamic range: Virtual shooting requires the screen brightness to be adjustable between 800-1200cd/m², with HDR mode (peak brightness ≥1500cd/m², contrast 10000:1). When shooting in dark fields, it is reduced to 400cd/m² to avoid reflections; strong light scenes are enhanced by zoned light control. For example, the brightness of the star area in the space scene needs to reach 1000cd/m², while the dark part maintains a black field performance of 0.1cd/m².

Color gamut and color accuracy: LED screens with Rec.2020 color gamut coverage ≥90% are preferred, with DCI-P3 color gamut mode (coverage ≥95%). Color accuracy ΔE<1.5, calibrate the wavelengths of the three primary colors of RGB (R:630nm±5nm, G:525nm±3nm, B:465nm±3nm) through a spectrometer to ensure that virtual elements match the skin color of real scenes. In the filming of a science fiction movie, the deviation between the virtual spaceship and the actor's skin color after calibration was less than 0.8ΔE.

Reflectivity and surface treatment: The screen surface uses a nano-matte coating with a reflectivity of <1.5% to avoid light reflection. With an anti-glare mask (transmittance ≥90%), the ambient light reflection is reduced by more than 70%. The curved screen needs to additionally control the reflection angle of the curved surface so that the camera position is in the reflection blind area.

From virtual film production to live broadcast virtual stage, the LED display screen configured according to this parameter list can achieve seamless integration of virtual background and real-life shooting, completely solve the problem of goofs, and provide a freer visual space for creation.
